What is Camino?

Camino is an accountability app for people who want to quit pornography or break their dependence on their phones. It pairs each person with an accountability partner and walks them through expert-designed formation courses in digital detox and pornography recovery, built around a short daily ritual of reading, reflection, and a check-in. Camino uses no attention-stealing algorithms, no feeds, no ads, and no data harvesting. Everything shared in the app is kept in a private, encrypted database.

Jacob Schmidt

Technical Cofounder

Jacob started his career at NVIDIA, which he left after concluding that the attention economy and generative AI were being brought into the world without love and care for the people they impacted. He co-founded Camino to take on digital and pornography addiction, with the eventual wider aim of enabling the prudent use of technology altogether.

Alex Ziolkowski

Cofounder

Alex spent his twenties in software sales before completing a master’s in Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas. His own recovery from pornography addiction, walked with accountability partners, convinced him that accountability and the right program are the two essentials, and that most people have neither within reach.
